IC270 – Technical Issues Section Available on ILCA Website
A Technical Issues section has been added to the ILCA website – http://www.laserinternational.org/info/technicalissues.
This new section is for sailors who wish to contact ILCA with any proposed rule changes and provides an opportunity for them to request assistance with quality complaints.
Rule or Equipment Changes
If a sailor would like to propose a change to the rules or a technical change to the Laser, they must first check their idea with as many other sailors as possible. ILCA recommends including a varied audience to review all ideas in order to get consideration from all different group who sail Lasers. If there is a favourable response, the sailor is then directed to download and complete the online form:
http://www.laserinternational.org/sites/default/files/laser_propose_change.doc
The completed form, and all necessary photographs, must then be emailed to the Laser Class Technical Officer at technical@laserinternational.org.
Quality Complaints
This section of the website is for members who require assistance with a quality complaint. Sailors are asked to complete this form, but only if they have first spoken with their local dealer and the manufacturer and have not had a satisfactory response. Sailors must show if they have attempted to resolve the issue with their dealer and the Laser manufacturer. To register a quality complaint, sailors are directed to download the Quality Complaint form:
http://www.laserinternational.org/sites/default/files/quality_complaints.doc
The completed form, and all necessary photographs, must then be emailed to the Laser Class Technical Officer at technical@laserinternational.org.
The ILCA Technical Officer will review the form in the first instance before passing it for discussion with the Technical Measurement Committee. If necessary, a course of action is then recommended to the builder. Any unresolvable cases will be reviewed at World Council meetings.
If you have any questions regarding the Technical Issues pages of the website, please contact the ILCA office.
